I have encountered what I believe is a bug in the Harmony 628 remote. Specifically, I am having difficulty creating a custom button in my "Listen To Music" activity. I have renamed this activity "Listen To D-Link", thinking this might overcome the bug, but to no avail.
The activity in question activates three devices: my A/V receiver, my television, and my D-Link Media Center (which lets me stream MP3's from my network, play internet radio stations, and so on). For the most part, everything works great, but I decided that it would be nice if, once I began playing something, I could turn the television off to save electricity. In order to do this, I wanted to add two custom buttons - DispOn and DispOff.
In the next image, you can see how I set this up on the Harmony website:
Looks good to me. I should point out here that I have successfully used this method to add custom buttons to other activities - for example, adding an "eject" button to "Watch A Movie" (to eject the current DVD), and have not encountered any problems until now.
This next image is a photograph of the Harmony Remote after updating with these settings. Note that the "Setup" custom button is there, but neither of the two buttons connected to the television will appear.
Hmmm. OK, so then I tried replacing the two buttons that aren't working with a single button to "toggle" the power on the television, like so:
Still no go. After updating the remote, it still only gives me the "Setup" button (which works as it should).
I've tried using different text strings. I've even gone so far as to instruct the website to send a bogus command to the D-Link at the same time it is sending the PowerOn or PowerOff commands: when I do this, the buttons *DO* appear on the Harmony Remote, but pressing them sends only the bogus command to the D-Link and does *NOT* send a PowerOn or PowerOff to the television.
Help!
